I'm with you guys that more stuff and the ability to build what you want from the tools would be awesome, but I'll play devil's advocate on Jak's behalf that I think it's a very difficult balance of quality versus customisability.
I love what Jak's done with Sex Sim in that all the content is very highly polished, and it's resulted in a very exciting, beautiful game that is very good at the things it is designed to do.
The danger of adding customisability is that it makes it almost impossible to maintain that level of polish, which in my opinion is one of the best features of Sex Sim.
Take Sexvilla:
It allows full customisation of the models, but the downside to this is that the models have a distinct 'game model' feel to them, particularly the faces (my eyes, the creepy, creepy faces!) and often feel a little wooden in order that they will work within the pre-established mechanics of the rest of the game. The more Jak allows customisation of Sex Sim, the more he has to tailor the animations to fit every potential variation of characters, and you're still going to get odd situations with levitating girls, girls giving blowjobs with their necks, or guys with their feet through the floor, which detracts from the overall 'Sim' quality.
Similarly Sexvilla has a large range of clothing options, including some large and unwieldy ones, but again these tend to cause clipping issues or just look odd when added to the sex part of the game. Sex Sim could get away with some more types of clothing, particularly skirts/dresses (and I know shoes are on the way), but that's just a question of adding the technical support/modeling for it - once the models support new types of clothing, customising them should be easy!
A pose editor would be great, although would require a bit of an interface overhaul, not to mention getting the models to play along with it without distorting horribly - another advantage Sexvilla has is that the models are fairly simple, and hence easily posed. Sex Sim goes for higher quality models, but with the constraint that they would then look horrible if they aren't carefully animated (as Jak has done rather well in the current animation packs)
A sequencer would be awesome, and well within Sex Sim's capabilities. Personally I'd like 'interim' animations for moving from position to position, but that would be a TON of work, especially considering the number of permutations required! For now I guess I'll just have to make do with fancy camerawork and writing stories (shameless plug for my stories in User Creations
)
I think a lot of stuff is possible in Sex Sim, it's just a lot of work, which comes down to juddre's point that it's slow going with the updates because it's mostly just Jak working on all of this gorgeous content. It'd be great if he could hire more people to increase output while maintaining quality, but this is a fairly niche market - sex games are hard to sell, when I'd say the majority of people prefer their perversions to be more... fleshy, and, let's face it, free! That said, juddre is right, that I've got a pile of Peach Points sitting unspent as there's just not the content to buy!
Keep up the good work Jak, and I'll certainly keep getting the addons, but I can see how it wouldn't be enough to cover hiring more people
If I were anywhere near the sort of artistic or coding skill to make this Sim look this good, I'd gladly help out in my spare time!
