Strip Kittens
« on: October 02, 2010, 04:02:56 PM »
Hey there Jak !! Remember me? I used to hang out back in the old Strip Kittens Forum round the 2002 period. If you remember me at all, you wanted my take on how those fine pixilated ladies looked in glorious 3D after I had purchased  some glasses.  Well . . . I'm back and just was curious as to why the new Strip Kittens babes, who look ravishingly delectable, don't look at you any more when they dance. I loved that quality about them back in the day and am just inquisitive concerning the lack of this dynamic in the newer version. It's like they're now in their own little world, unawares of the viewer . . . uh . . . punter ??? Whatever you wanna call us. P.S. you're still the best Forum moderator ever 8)

Hey yeah I remember you and a lot of people from those days, in fact I was just thinking about the old forum the other day.  Good to have you here. :)

If I recall correctly, the new Strip Kittens girls do look at you, that's how we made it, are you sure you're wearing those glasses? lol.

We actually sold the whole Strip Kittens brand way back in 2003, but in 2009 the new owners wanted a re-do, so although they had us make the whole new version for them we don't actually own it and don't have much to do with it aside from programming and art.  The girls in that are fun to work on so hopefully we'll be making some more for them soon.

Thanks for joining us here and thanks for the vote of confidence in my moderation skills.  Time will tell how well I hold up, hahaha.

well it took some time ( and trolling through the back alleys of the net) to get ( and actually install) all the original strip kittens again. and its funny how my brain remembers things as i felt rather than knew.
now i am really torn between the old rose and the new one. i love the old roses's club hair. and theres an incredible charm in the oldschool graphics. makes me wonder what Robyn would have been like if she'd been born in the 3D/A5 engine. sadly extracting the original dancers from the club doesnt seem possible.
this really is an incredibly clever program. i vaguely rember this engine ( not sure if i had v.5) but for some reason i didnt pursue it ( i was really into the quake/unreal engine for a long while) too bad for me.
one thing about the "game" strip kittens is that even scrubbed of 2nd&3rd party malware windows security essentials still don't like it. you have to pegg it as ignore or the threats being cleaned guy jumps out after each run.

i think the issue is theres a datbase file that checks your system for which dancers you have installed. windows dont like that. plus the old game is still pegged to the web site. so if you load "old" rose and then click buy new dancer it will link you to the new 2.0 page. so theres an active link going on behind the scenes whicj windows also dont't like. i wonder why you cant install the old dancers in the new club? you should create a folder called strip kittens1 or something if you already have the new one. and pasted the exe in there. the new club recommends running the .exe's under adminstrator. i don't. despite best intentions theres always the chance of some backward flow through through your activeX link.
these lovely ladies should not be allowed to fade away !

i wonder why you cant install the old dancers in the new club?

I don't know what Jak's answer would be on this but I assume it would be something along the lines of the two programs being different programs and that's just not how things work, unless they are specifically designed to work that way. You can't just take parts from one game and put them into another.

Unless of course you're asking why it wasn't designed that way, in which case I would imagine that it simply wasn't worth taking the time to do it.

quite right.
the world the JAK built is multi-faceted.

there seems to have been a modified version of the original game featuring the steve Harvey/ Shawn ? music
anyone with any info or memories it would be appreciated
