The work you talented folk are doing with what is currently available is really great.  :D
There are, however some really severe limitations as to what you are able to currently do with the storyboard idea.  :-\
IMO you need more locations & more meshes with UVMaps that can be used for real world clothing, both formal & casual.
As a few more of you are attempting work in this area,I would like to ask Jak to raise those two projects in his no doubt exhaustive 'To Do' list.  :-[

I would be interested to know  what else you feel might help to develop this facet of the program.  :)

NMM can probably speak more to this than I. However, I think anything that helps move it to being to a full fledged authoring platform for the user to create his or her own pornographic or erotic movie. "Make your own porn. Make your fantasies come to life." Make your own story and share it. The raw sex has its own appeal, yes, but adding a story gives it character and context. That type of deal. I detailed a basic idea in the suggestions section. I truely hope it was not taken the wrong way. I realize this is a massive undertaking. As you can imagine this requires giving the user not just massive control over the content, but also the content to control. I believe Jak works very hard at both. NMM is right, until Jak can get a larger team working on this, we can only wait for his work. We also have the duty to enourage him. One man working alone is very tough. *a big thumbs up to Jak*

Yeah, more environments would be nice, especially a bedroom of some sort, but I don't really mind in terms of stories - the fun there is creating the environment with your imagination, and being able to illustrate it with Sex Sim is just a very nice bonus - all the stories I've posted started as ideas first, and added the screenshots later!

I'm happy to wait for Jak to put in content as best he likes, I do kinda think the best idea for him at the moment, if he wants to properly expand this program, would be to get some sponsorship or publishing, perhaps from an adult entertainment firm, and get a bigger team to output content. As far as I can see this is one of the highest quaility erotic games out there, and I can't think of many that use such an efficient free-to-play model as well, with what he's already made it should have a shot of getting proper publishing support :)

It is the same for me! They all start as ideas, stories, and images in my head. That is where the real fun lies! Later, I try to put them to paper (...erm computer land) and now that I have this Sex Sim, I can try to add some pics to it.  :eyebrows:

NMM, I am curious. When you work on the stories, do you feel that things get lost in translation so to speak? I feel that way a lot. I am not sure, maybe I need more practice still.

I agree, any company looking to sponsor someone would be remiss to pass up Jak and Sex Sim! I am worried if they see something such as 3D SexVilla with its higher user population and variety and overlook Sex Sim's superior quality.

Jak, I am not sure if you have the financial ability, but you might look into having a booth at an adult entertainment expo or convention. I am sure that would really help get the name out there.  :)

I am unsure though. The developer team or sponsor may take it in a direction Jak does not agree with. Also the market for games like Sex Sim seems so underpopulated and underattended to. It surprises me that the porn industry does not pick up on it. I am sure they are keen on their dvd selling based business but this could easily earn them money as well. What with all the porn piracy, they are loosing revenue they would have been getting. And also I often run into the problem that I have a story or idea in my head but I have trouble finding a video or something to match it. I know that seems surprising with all the content out there, but it is not quite so easy to search through for a purpose like that. Plus I do not want the director's interpretation. I want my own. Hence my search for a "make your own video" type of thing lead me here.

In the fullness of time, I am sure you will get where you wish to go with it.

I think it is mainly a matter of patience.  ;)

Forgive me for correcting you, but that's just not true. I've been a member of ThriXXX for over 5 years! The registered population of Gamerotica, the ThriXXX owned user website is now well over 100,000! And that's just the users that have signed up for it. That's not counting the ones who don't use GE.  That isn't a drop in the bucket compared to say World of Warcraft, but for an adult-oriented game, that's pretty good.

Consider that a lot of older users,  like me,  are still on the monthly subscription plan. And most of the newer users have purchased sexcoins for new content. At even, say $100/year per customer, that's $10 million per year. For Blizzard, that would be poker money, for Sexsim, it would be a windfall.
And $100/year is a very conservative estimate.

The market for this game is very good. The reason it hasn't caught on yet is that it is still in its infancy. And the 500lb gorilla in the room is THriXXX.  It's unfortunate, but for this game to succeed, it's going to have to outdo ThriXXX at a format they invented. Judging from what I've seen so far, they can do it. But it's not going to happen with just the "pick a girl and guy and have sex till they cum" scenario. That's been done to death by too many SexVilla wannabees, (3d Girlz, 3D Sex, Virtual Eve, the list is endless) no matter how many mods and options it gets.

Sexsim is going to have to become better than SexVilla and to do that it needs to become far more sophisticated.

I can guarantee that, if they do develop a porn movie studio with this game, you'll see thousands migrate from SexVilla. There is a lot of dissatisfaction with the condition of the game right now, but it's still the only game in town so nobody, me included, wants to give it up. But, if there was an alternative game with better capabilities and more freedom to create, then they'd jump ship in a New York minute. I guarantee it.
The one thing they don't allow in 3DSV2 is users to create new clothes. They can modify and re-texturize the ones ThriXXX made, but can't make their own...or hairstyles, or sets.  So, these things being available here would be enough to get many to migrate from 3dSV2. They also can only modify certain parts of the figure...breasts, penis, hips, stomach and thighs somewhat, and of course facial features. One feature people scream for is to adjust heights on the figures. You can do that here.

The big problem for Sexsim now is that ThriXXX is developing the 3D SexVilla 3 now. It has been in development for over 2 years. Supposedly, they are going to release a "teaser" video this week showing some of their progress. If it contains most or all of the suggestions made by we users, Sexsim will have a lot of catching up to do.

The problem, as I see it for Jax, is that with ThriXXX having a stranglehold on the market like it does, getting venture capital support is probably difficult. And that would be necessary to take this game to the next level, because, as one of you said, this would be far too involved a project for just one person, or even a couple of people. It would require a team of coders, developers and planners. And that requires a lot of upfront money.

However, one thing that could be done almost immediately, and almost without cost, is to reveal the format of the 3d sets and props or release the development tool used to make them AND the animation tools. With those two things, users can start to make their own sets and character animations, make a video of a scene and make a movie using a third party video editor without actually having to have a full blown studio available.

I'm not talking about sex animations. I mean everyday, sitting on the couch talking or sitting at the dinner table, or answering the door animations, or any number of poses needed to make a movie. ThriXXX has those now because of the pose editor. I, myself, have made over 30 animations using it. And their animator will import BVH files with a little modification. THAT, is what is needed here, quickly.

* '.' *  But thanks for the info on ThriXXX. My point was how there is ThriXXX and the lack of competition. I tried their product but I got dissapointed with it quickly after seeing Jak's Sex Sim. The biggest feature of 3d SexVilla 2 that I liked was the ability to make movies as you describe. It is the top feature I would love to see for Sex Sim! Though, I do understand it will take a massive undertaking for Jak.

The teaser video is out: http://www.gamerotica.com/forums/viewtopic/t/10928

Probably going to take quite some time before the actual product comes out. But when it does, it will certainly erode the graphics quality advantage that SexSim currently enjoys.

The teaser looks good, but I wouldn't expect a release of that until at least the end of this year, and probably not until well in the next.

Still doesnt look at good as your product Jakk, particularly if you use photorealistic textures.

I also dont like the business model that you have to pay through the nose to do anything. Sexsim is very commendable in that respect.

Yeah, those were my impressions too - they seem to have taken the safer side of the uncanny valley and gone for much more cartoony characters, where Sex Sim tries for slightly more realistic and the extra effort really pays off without getting into 'creepy' territory. Also I saw that trailer and was tempted, but just know it'd be quite a subscription for getting all the content they're offering, I really do like the free-to-play addons-paid model of Sex Sim.

Random tangent too, what were they thinking with the name 'ThriXXX'? Is it supposed to be, like, 'Thrills'? Who uses the word 'thrills' anymore, particularly referring to sex? Plus it always makes me pronounce it 'Thrickcks' or 'Thricks', which sounds like... I dunno, some kinda agricultural parasite? "Arr Jethro, meh crawps gort a reet case o' Thricks thus yaar!"

(Although since I read this: http://oglaf.com/canoe/1/ I've never quite looked the same way at 'Ripened Peach' :p)

Oglaf is awesome btw :) started off as an attempt to do erotic comics, ended up as a silly fantasy comic that more often than not turns out filthy, and usually hilarious, if a bit weird sometimes XD
