I have installed Sexsim to a TrueCrypt encrypted drive that is indicated as removable in My Computer.

It's the encrypted drive that is probably causing the problem then. Your best bet is to install the full version and that will bring you up to date without having to deal with the possible patch issues. Sorry for the trouble.

jon_joy_1999:
okay. while I am downloading the full installer, I thought maybe I would try installing the old version (version 1.7) to the standard installation location (D:\Program Files (x86)\Sex Sim) and the installer has the default location set to my current installation folder (G:\Sex Sim). I looked through the registry for Sex Sim and found the installation information for Sex Sim under the HKCU.
In the time to write this post the 1.7b installer finished downloading and ran, and it too indicates the G:\Sex Sim installation location.

Giselle:
OK that sounds normal. Does everything run now as 1.7b?

jon_joy_1999:
yes, the full installer worked properly, Sex Sim is now running 1.7b. If the updater worked just as good that would be awesome  :eyebrows:  ;D

It should and generally does. I think it's just because of the encrypted drive that's causing trouble. I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't find the path info in the registry.
